Brasswood Soundtracks 2026 in Sopot

When Music Turns the Forest into Magic

You walk into a huge forest. You make your way through the trees until suddenly you reach the place where the stage is. And you stop. Behind it, a beautifully illuminated stretch of trees rises into the darkness. Fresh flowers cover the stage. The lights make everything seem to move, as if the whole forest were breathing to its own rhythm.

As if something magical was about to happen. And it did. All evening long, the 12th of September 2026, in the Forest Opera in Sopot during the Brasswood Soundtracks festival.

Percival

Masters of Slavic music, whom I have already had the chance to hear several times.

Their music makes your feet start moving on their own, and when the melodies from The Witcher begin to play, you immediately want to jump up and immerse yourself in that world. I actually found myself wishing I could sit down at my computer and transport myself into the world of The Witcher.

I love the fact that they don’t create a huge show. They simply sit on stage, dressed in traditional costumes, with traditional instruments, and make music. And that is enough. Mastery.

And the female vocalists? What they do with their voices is simply something else. Sometimes it is hard to believe that the band has already existed for a quarter of a century. It was also wonderful to hear something different, such as music from Ogniem i Mieczem and The Witcher TV series.

The Polish Chamber Philharmonic Sopot and Rebel Babel Film Orchestra

Later, the Polish Chamber Philharmonic Sopot appeared on stage together with the Rebel Babel Film Orchestra. This time, we moved into the world of television music, mainly Polish.

And suddenly, 1670 filled the air. I don’t know why, but somehow I couldn’t imagine this music being played by an orchestra. And yet! That Sarmatian sound travelled beautifully through the Sopot forest. And I think this is exactly why I love concerts like this. For the chance to hear something we already know in a completely new way.

The Peasants

Then L.U.C. appeared on stage and, together with the orchestra, took us into the world of The Peasants (Chłopi).

I absolutely love this soundtrack. I feel that it paints Polish mentality, our Slavic soul, and all those things that are sometimes difficult to put into words. Łukasz Rostkowski, being a true showman, naturally couldn’t resist turning towards the audience, encouraging us to clap and taking us back for a moment to his own work as well.

And me? Every time I hear the instrumental pieces from this film, I get goosebumps. I think this is the essence of the entire soundtrack for me. The different instruments coming in one after another, the main theme woven through in different ways, with different instruments. Something magical. Maybe it is because there are so many strings, which I simply love.

Perhaps the most beautiful moment was the performance of Koniec lata (End of Summer) with Bela Komoszyńska. Just beautiful. Bela in a white dress, and her voice blending so beautifully with the melody that I simply cannot imagine anyone else singing this song. There was something so delicate and beautiful about it that, for a moment, the whole concert seemed to stop.

And then… a complete change of energy! Three soloists, Bela, and the actors from 1670 — Martyna Byczkowska i Kirył Pietruczuk — turned it into a real celebration. There was lots of dancing, singing, shouting and laughter. The audience simply couldn’t sit still. And it’s hard to blame them!

IN MY HEAD – Tribute to David Lynch

And just when it seemed that the evening couldn’t take us anywhere else, the concert paying tribute to David Lynch began. It was directed by Olivier Mellano.

This time, everything became more enigmatic, intimate, a little mysterious. There were so many beautiful, familiar pieces, and the voices of the singers, especially the female ones, fitted perfectly into this atmosphere.

The biggest impression on me was Wicked Game. Of course, no one can match the original voice, but there was something about this performance that made me completely drift away for a moment.

STRANGER THINGS

The musicians Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein were almost invisible, emerging only occasionally from behind thick clouds of smoke. Terrifying, mysterious music, with the lighting adding even more power and making the sound even more intense.

I would even call it a psychedelic performance. And considering that all of this was happening in the middle of a forest… Oh, I definitely wouldn’t want to find myself there alone in the middle of the night, hearing those sounds.

And I think that was perhaps the most beautiful thing about the whole evening. That for one evening, in one place, we could travel through so many different worlds. From Slavic legends, through the Polish countryside, fairytale melodies and the cinema of David Lynch, all the way to the dark corners of Hawkins. And all of it in the very heart of the Sopot forest. Sometimes music really is enough to find yourself somewhere completely different for a while.
